How to hang a Bed Hammock
Below are some tips that a client wrote for how he set up his hammock to replace his bed:
The way I decided to achieve this was to:
- use 10mm concrete dyna expansion bolts/screws into the concrete wall, to screw a small metal loop (Raumer 45 Degree Hanger 10mm used in rock climbing, such as https://www.climbinganchors.com.au/raumer-45-degree-hanger-10mm-hole)
- use a rope to tie to the metal hanger, with a knot at the length I needed the hammock to attach at (in my case, I used ticket to the moon nautical ropes, which have knots pretied for easy setup https://www.climbinganchors.com.au/ticket-to-the-moon-nautical-ropes)
- use rock climbing carabiners to clip the rope to the hammock
I can unclip the hammock easily for storage during the day.
If I need less sag, I can make the end ropes shorter.
If I want more sag/more banana, I can tie a rope between the two carabiners, directly across the top of the hammock (a ridgeline), and make this rope shorter and shorter, drawing the two ends of the hammock closer together and increasing the sag.
I also found an interesting website that calculates the correct lengths for the amount of sag you want and the distance of your hooks.
